”I hold tight a memory from my childhood. It’s evening in an indoor environment, very familiar to me, and it’s dark because the electricity has been cut. We are three women. I see nothing but shadows but there is also the reassuring voice of the otherwise worn-out women, the echo of a sewing machine that worked non-stop the whole day and the distinct smell of cloth, before being washed and worn, a mixture of raw materials and industrial production. Now, sewing becomes speech/writing and vice versa in a primarily female universe that produces, reproduces and defines imperatively, but always in the dark”.
The works were exhibited at TAF The Art Foundation in Comfort Companions, April-May 2024
